Here at the Simone Thomas hairdressers in Bournemouth & Wokingham, even we suffer from the occasional bad hair day. We’ve all had days when our hair just does not cooperate the way we’d like it to. Whether it’s bed hair, second day hair, or a simply bad hair day – here are 6 simple and quick tips on how to fix it!
1. Dry Shampoo.
Dry shampoo absorbs excess oils and adds a volumizing texture to your hair. If you don’t have dry shampoo handy, try this simple trick: take a teaspoon of baby powder and gently massage it into your scalp at the roots. This will also absorb excess oils and make your hair appear fresher. Tip: use little by little to make sure not to use too much, or otherwise it will be noticeable. There are so many different ones available on the market specific to your hair colour and they smell good too.
We just love braids. Not only will they cover up that second day hair, but they also look so much better on second or third day hair. For some ideas on what kinds of braids you can try out, have a look online and practice at home. You will soon find one you love and can do on yourself.
3. Tease your roots.
For flat hair, backcombing the roots will instantly lift the hair and give it a lively, fuller look. Don’t over backcomb your hair though!
4. Embrace the frizz.
Your hair doesn’t need to be perfectly smooth at all times. Why not befriend your frizz by lightly braiding or putting your hair in a bo-ho chic looking bun, and rock it with confidence?
5. Wash half your hair.
Okay, this one may sound a little strange – but for a lot of ladies like us, the process of washing, conditioning, and drying the hair can take a long time. When you’re in a rush, take the front part of your hair and wash that section only (maybe even in the sink). If you have a fringe, just wash that. This will give an illusion that you have freshly washed hair and take the attention away from what you’re trying to conceal.
6. Rock that cute hat or headband.
This one’s a given. For girls, it’s probably what they’re made for anyway! Try rocking a cute hat with a side braid, or tease your hair at the crown and put on a thick headband. Ta-da… what bad hair day?
And finally…it’s only a bad hair day if we allow it to be one. Decide that you are beautiful no matter what, stay confident and smile lots. If you do not attract attention to your less than perfect hair on that day, chances are – nobody will even notice anyway!
