What Do DHT Blockers Do?
Advice From Simone Thomas Trichology Clinic
Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is a male sex hormone that binds to receptors in your scalp and causes hair loss that leads to male or female pattern baldness. Also known as androgenic alopecia, male or female pattern baldness is an inherited tendency. DHT can affect people who are genetically-susceptible to it, shrinking the hair follicles and causing the hair to thin and eventually leading to baldness.
An effective hair loss treatment, as the name suggests, DHT Blockers inhibit the effects of DHT. DHT miniaturises the hair follicles gradually, through every growth cycle, so it has a slow and progressive effect. The earlier treatment is started, the better the outcome for your hair.
At Simone Thomas Trichology Clinic, we work closely with a compounding chemist, who can offer a private DHT Blocker prescription. DHT Blockers are available in topical and oral formats, and your prescription can be tailored to meet your particular needs.
