DIY At Home Hair Masks…

How to Make an At Home Hair Mask – Advice from Simone Thomas Hair Salon in Bournemouth

As we will all be spending a lot more time at home over the coming weeks, I wanted to bring you some home TLC hair tips. I want to try to look after your locks and wellbeing at this time, so I have put together an at home hair masks guide:

Honey, egg, and apple cider vinegar mask

The issue: Dry hair.

If your hair is feeling (and looking) a little parched, try this honey, egg and apple cider vinegar mask. It is a great hydrating treatment that provides shine and nourishes without weighing down strands.
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.

Directions: Mix in a small bowl, you can double or half the recipe, depending on your hair’s length. Leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes – I like to wrap my hair up in a hair towel for the 40 minutes and relax on my bed with a book and collagen face mask, rinse and dry.  I like to dry my hair and then put it into a soft scrunchie overnight and in the morning, I have bed curls and lots of volume. This nourishing treatment works on all hair types.

Coconut oil, sugar, and essential oil mask

The issue: Are you suffering from a dry flaky scalp – it’s very common to suffer with a dry flaky scalp but even more so when we are under stress.  If you have started to notice this then our DIY at home exfoliating treatment which helps remove and reduce flakes will be pereect for you and can also be used on your face and body as a scrub. Get scrubbing guys, summer is coming and a great way to help with circulation on our legs and bottoms 😉

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of raw unrefined coconut oil, 4 teaspoons of raw sugar, 5 drops of peppermint oil, 2 drops of tea tree oil.

Directions: To be used once you have washed your hair. Mix all the ingredients together and using your fingers apply the mixture directly to your scalp in two inch sections and apply. Gently massage for 3 minutes and then clip your hair up and let it sit for the duration of your shower. Time to shave those legs and waste some time for your mask to work.

The sugar in this DIY hair scrub breaks down to glycolic acid which dissolves dead skin cells. The coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and has anti-inflammatory benefits. The peppermint oil helps promote circulation to the scalp, and the tea tree oil is antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial.

Cinnamon and coconut oil mask

The issue: Hair that won’t grow. Why not try a cinnamon infused hair mask, the anti-microbial spice is known to stimulate blood circulation and promote hair growth and strength?

Ingredients: Mix equal parts cinnamon and coconut oil.

Directions: Mix all ingredients together and then apply the mask onto your roots and scalp and massage. Let it sit for 45 minutes and rinse. Aim to do this mask at least once a week.
