Miranda has lived a truly fascinating life. Born as Roger in London, Miranda had a happy upper class childhood. Typical of the time, Miranda was sent to boarding school and brought up within a large and gregarious family. As Roger, Miranda had a highly conventional education and dressed accordingly to what Miranda describes as being “part of the green wellie brigade”.
After finishing her education, Miranda had a 30 year career working in the city of London where she was married with three children. Divorcing from her wife some ten years ago, Roger was still completely unaware of the dysphoric influences that led to becoming Miranda.
It was only two years ago, as an unexpected side effect of medication, that Miranda first appeared. After a period of closet cross dressing, Miranda is now committed to full gender transitioning.
Miranda realised early on that she needed expert help in developing her appearance and as such to find a transgender wig which looked elegant and natural was extremely important to living her new life as a woman. Having tried several wig outfitters, Miranda was unable to find something truly satisfying until a mutual friend introduced Miranda to Simone Thomas.
“Simone has really helped me with the transition, particularly where hair is concerned. She has been like a lighthouse along the way and has been a safe and trusting person for me to rely on, particularly where beauty is concerned. Simone is completely open and detached from any prejudices others may have against me. Her knowledge on wig technology, and in particular transgender human hair and synthetic wigs and the advice she has been able to give me regarding wigs, colour and hair styles has been invaluable.”
Simone says: “I thoroughly enjoy working with Miranda, she is a completely open and honest person and she always expects the best from me, which I love. It was extremely important to both myself and Miranda that we find the right colours and style so that she felt not only comfortable in the wigs but glamorous as well. I feel together we have found several styles which suit Miranda perfectly.”
Miranda adds: “Simone Thomas is an exceptionally professional outfit. Their recognition is fantastic and I feel instantly welcomed when I walk through the door. I love going there, it is always very nice and relaxed and it gives me the opportunity to meet congenial people. Having a sense of humour is also very important to me and all the staff are great when it comes to that. On top of everything, their services are exquisite and I feel extremely lucky to have found Simone.”
