Show Yourself Some Love This Valentine’s Day and Beyond

Love it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is traditionally the ultimate time for love and romance.   Whatever your views on this annual celebration, at Simone Thomas Bournemouth hair salon, we think that this year we could all do with a bit of extra love.  So whether you are celebrating alone or with others in your bubble, show yourself some love this Valentines Day and beyond.

Lockdown is tough, especially at this time of year, and self-care is vitally important if we are to get through it with our mental and physical health intact.   By looking after ourselves, we will have the capacity to spread the love amongst those around us too.  Here are some of our favourite self-care ideas, with links to find out more.

Have a DIY Spa Day at Home

Self Care in Lockdown
If lockdown has scuppered your plans for a relaxing spa day, why not recreate the experience at home?    Turn off your phone, put on some soothing music and dim the lights.   Burn a candle or use some oils with relaxing scents and make sure you have some fluffy towels to hand as well as some healthy snacks.

Start by dry brushing your skin to stimulate circulation as well as sloughing off dull dead skin cells.   Then create the perfect bath, using essential oils, and enjoy some relaxing me-time.  While you are in the bath, it’s the perfect time to revitalise your hair with a mask.   We recommend the Davines Circle Chronicles available from our online shop.

The steam from the bath will have opened your pores, so apply a home-made face mask (a moisturising one, not one you wear to the supermarket of course…)  Don’t forget to apply a rich moisturiser over your whole body when you step out too and finish off with a manicure and pedicure.

Connect

sSelf love in lockdown

Coping with loneliness in lockdown has been a real challenge for so many of us.   If you aren’t able to spend Valentines Day with your loved ones, how about booking a Galentine’s Zoom call with your girlfriends?  You could watch a film together or even have dinner.   Writing a letter to an old friend can also be a great way to connect, and who doesn’t love to receive a card through the post in the days of email?   If you are struggling with loneliness, there are tips from the NHS here.

Make a List

As we’re talking about celebrating self-care, it makes sense to make a list of things we love about ourselves!   Grab a notebook and think about all the things you’d might compliment a friend on, and extend this to yourself.  You could think about your strengths, accomplishments and kindness for example.

Take time to tune in to what you are feeling and try to quieten the negative inner voice we all have within ourselves.

Let Your Natural Beauty Shine

Nothing makes us feel better about ourselves than a healthy glow.   At Simone Thomas Wellness we can help you look after your skin from within with our 30 Day Skin Care Challenge.  Sign up to receive daily skincare videos for 30 days as well as £10 off the award-winning SkinQuencher skin care supplements online.  You will also receive a free eBook at the end of the 30 day challenge.

Healthy Whole Foods

Nourish Your Body With Whole Foods

A well-balanced diet is critical to keep you fit, both physically and mentally. If you consume high levels of processed foods, your body will not be getting the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay fit and healthy.  For more advice on healthy eating, follow our Wellness Facebook page.

Take Care of Your Hair

Take care of your hair at Simone Thomas Bournemouth hair salonMany people say our hair is the crown we never take off, so let’s treat it that way!  There’s nothing so demoralising as catching sight of ourselves in the mirror with unwashed and uncared for locks.  Even if we aren’t able to go out and socialise at the moment, let’s show ourselves and our hair some love!

We are proud to stock Davines Vegan Hair Care products and these are available to order online from our shop.   If you aren’t sure which products to choose, drop us a line at westbourne@simonethomas.com and we’ll be happy to advise you.

As a treat for yourself or someone special, we’d recommend our Davines gift boxes, which contain carefully chosen products to help you fall back in love with your hair.

You could also plan a fresh new hair cut and colour for when we re-open our salon.    For inspiration, take a look at our 2021 Hair Trends article.   To book an appointment for when we re-open, please call the salon on 01202 760003.

Lockdown is a difficult time for us all.   There’s only One You, and for more advice on how to take good care of yourself, visit the NHS’s One You website here.
